TRAUMA INFORMED COUNSELLING & SUPERVISION IN ROMSEY

Youth Counselling

My second placement, Counselling within a 6th form college offered a real insight into the issues and challenges faced by young people today.

This includes educational pressure, self-esteem, identity, gender related issues, sexual identity, friendship issues, bullying and the pressures of social media. Many of this age group are active in self harm, substance and alcohol misuse and suicide ideation which can feel, lonely and isolating.

My experience of counselling this age dynamic led me to seek further qualifications gaining a post grad qualification in working with young people (BACP accredited).

Domestic Abuse

Domestic Abuse is an incident or a pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading and violent behaviour, including sexual.

What are the different types of abuse?

  • Physical
  • Domestic Violence or abuse
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Psychological or emotional abuse
  • Financial or material abuse
  • Modern slavery
  • Discriminatory
  • Organisation or Institutional

Men experience domestic abuse too. Often stigma and shame are reasons for it to be kept hidden. Please reach out and contact me in confidence, if you require support.

Trauma

Working with clients who had experienced significant Trauma in their lives; childhood abuse, childhood sexual abuse, childhood neglect, domestic abuse, sexual violence, bullying and significant life events led me towards seeking a more specialist training, from experts in the field of Trauma, enabling me to support this client base effectively.

Loving the work I do

My client base covers a wide range of issues and ages.

I have learned that a Trauma Framework in therapy is beneficial to all client bases and the grounding techniques used in trauma models of therapy are hugely effective in supporting clients suffering from anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, mental health issues, addictions and so much more.

Each client and their experience is unique and all my enriched learning and experience, together with the necessary academic qualifications, are brought together into what is now my successful private practice. I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly partake in training, courses, seminars, and seek further qualifications.

I continue to offer my services in a volunteering capacity as a counsellor and a panel member to the Hampshire division of the Family Counselling Trust, a charitable organisation supporting young people and their families with accessible and affordable counselling, something that is very important to me.
