How I Work

I am first and foremost a Humanistic Therapist with a foundation in the model of Transactional Analysis (TA), working from a Trauma Informed Practice.

As a Humanistic Therapist, my primary focus is on the relationship between myself and my clients, working towards creating a safe, supportive space where the individual feels able to explore difficult aspects of themselves, and their potential for change, ultimately working towards their own personal growth, both mentally and emotionally.

Transactional Analysis (TA), developed by Eric Berne in the 1950’s, is a method used to analyse the process of our interactions and communication with others. This requires us to be aware of how we feel, think and behave in our relations to others, and recognises how our personality is driven by feelings and events rooted in the past.

Trauma results from an event, a series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as harmful, or life threatening. While unique to the individual, generally the experience of trauma can cause lasting adverse effects, limiting the ability to function and achieve mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.
